Title: Cu(I) binding to a novel metallothionein from Y. lipolytica

Biography:
Aleksandra Hecel obtained a PhD in inorganic chemistrv (2017) under the supervision of Prof. Henryk Kozlowski at the University of Wroclaw (Poland). The focus of her work was set on the thermodynamic and spectroscopic characterisation between metal ions and biologically relevant ligands, with special attention given to amyloidogenic peptide fragments and bacterial metallophores, In 2020 she moved to the University of Zurich (Switzerland) to pursue postdoctoral studies in the group of Prof. Eva Freisinger, supported by Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) fellowship. Her current interests involve the role of novel fungal metallothioneins (MTs) in metal ions interaction.
