All-focus

Biography:

Katalin Várnagy is a professor at the Department of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry, University of Debrecen, where she obtained her PhD in 1987. She spent 2 years as a postdoc fellow at the University of Basel in the group of Prof. Peter Comba, where she worked on the template synthesis of metal complexes. Her recent researches are focused on the interaction of transition metal ions with various cysteine and/or histidine containing oligopeptides mimicking the metal ion binding of various proteins. The aim of these studies is to understand the metal selectivity of peptides and coordination background of neurodegenerative disease.
