Title: Hunting for metal-binding peptides in macrofungi and linking them to metal (hyper)accumulation traits.

Biography:

Pavel KOTRBA is a professor of microbiology in the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology of the University of Chemistry and Technology (UCT), Prague. He completed PhD in microbiology at UCT Prague in 1999 with work on bacterial display of recombinant metal-binding peptides. He performed postdoctoral research at Research Institute of Innovative Technology for the Earth in Kyoto, before rejoining UCT Prague in 2003, where he rose through the ranks to the Professor in 2016 and serves as Vice-Rector (for Research and Development in 2016-2019, and curently for External Relations). Over the last decade, his research activities have focused mainly on cell biology of heavy metals in fungi, with special emphasis on hyperaccumulating species.
