Tour de France
We invite you to book your accommodation very quickly because of the Tour de France. The stage of Friday July 8th starts in a town located a few minutes from Nancy, the various lodgings will soon be in demand so we advise you to anticipate.
A few words about the Tour de France:
The Tour de France is an international sporting event that is eagerly awaited each summer by the French. This men’s cycling competition, structured in stages, was created in 1903 by Henri Desgrange and Géo Lefèvre, both sports journalists. The objective for them was to increase the sales of the newspaper « L’auto » for which they were respectively director and head of the cycling section. Over the years, « La Grande Boucle » gained in popularity and prestige. This race, which used to gather only French sportsmen, counts today 40 nationalities and is broadcasted in 190 countries.
The Tour de France usually takes place in July, over 21 stages and nearly 3 500 kilometers. Each year the route differs but the competitors systematically cross the mountain ranges of the Alps and the Pyrenees and end the race at the Champs-Elysées in Paris.
